A week from today Hillary Clinton will formally accept the nomination of our party to become the 45th President of the United States. This is a historic achievement because for the first time in history a woman will lead the ticket of a major political party.

The OCDP will be hosting a watch party next week to celebrate this historic achievement and kick off our general election push. It should be fun to watch this historic nomination with friends, fellow Democrats and some of our local candidates and office holders.

    Here are the details:

    R&R Grill
137 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill
    6:00pm to 11:00pm

Also, five Democrats will be in Philadelphia next week. You can follow their adventures in Philly at

  • Northern Orange Democrats Breakfast Group - July 21, 2016

This Saturday, please join the Northern Orange Democrats Breakfast Group as we get to know Emma Shaw, and learn about plans in Orange County to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November. Emma, who had the opportunity to be in Charlotte on Tuesday for the Hillary Clinton rally with President Barack Obama, is heading up the Coordinated Campaign in our area. Come hear her enthusiasm:
    Saturday, July 9, 2016
    9:00am - 10: 15am
    The Village Diner
    600 West King Street, Hillsborough
Emma is no stranger to Orange County; she graduated from East Chapel Hill High, went to UNC-Chapel Hill for undergrad. Her next venture was to Scotland, where she did her graduate work at St. Andrews. Seeing from abroad what was happening to her beloved state, she returned home to do her part.
In order for Democrats to take back the General Assembly, keep the Council of State, return to the governor's mansion, and maintain the White House, we must strategize and mobilize. We hope to see you Saturday, as we continue to work towards victory.

  • Mayor Jennifer Roberts: Will I See You There?

I’m honored to be joining Democrats from across Orange County next Tuesday at the OCDP’s annual Summer Soiree.
This has been a very interesting election year (to say the least), and I look forward to discussing North Carolina politics with you. Together, we can make history!
