Thursday, July 24th - 7:30 pm - The Orange County Democratic Women will hold its monthly meeting, with a special focus on taxes. What is the truth about Republican budgets and spending? Where are our state and federal tax dollars going? We will compare the priorities of the Democratic and Republican parties and candidates. This month’s guest speaker will be Meg Gray Weihe, Policy Analyst with the N.C. Justice Center’s Budget & Tax Center. The public is invited to attend. Location: Chapel Hill Museum at 523 East Franklin Street. Note that the entrance to parking at the museum is on Boundary Drive. More parking is available at the Horace Williams House nearby. The Breakfast (held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month) provides a regular, informal, and congenial setting where we discuss issues with fellow Democrats and have occasional speakers or programs.
Tuesday, July 29th - 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm - Environmental Forum, jointly sponsored by Orange County’s Town Hall and OWASA Precincts. Environmental Defense staff attorney (and fellow Town Hall resident) Dan Whittle will discuss the key issues at stake in the 2008 elections and the distinction between Democrats and Republicans on these pivotal matters.
