CHAIR – JIM WHITE
Jim White was active in the Obama Campaign's voter protection efforts, both in the primary and in the general election. He is an attorney in private practice with an office in Durham focusing on litigation, consumer law and bankruptcy; he has done extensive work in cooperation with Legal Aid of North Carolina, and has argued on behalf of the ACLU of North Carolina before the North Carolina Supreme Court. He has served as a member of the Orange County Transportation Services Board, is on the board of Voices Together, a nonprofit serving individuals with developmental disabilities, and has both a Master's Degree in Public Policy and a law degree from Duke University, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the journal Law & Contemporary Problems. 1ST VICE CHAIR – CATHY CHAPMAN
Cathy Chapman is a registered nurse and has a degree in business administration with a concentration in management from UNC-Charlotte. Her current position is Health Coach Team Lead for the Federal Employee Program at BCBSNC. Her political activity began in 1972 and has included being a delegate to the 1984 and 1988 National Democratic Conventions, chairing the Mecklenburg County Party, serving on the District Executive Committee for the 9th district and being on the State Executive Committee from Mecklenburg County and also Forsyth County. She has run several successful campaigns (school board, judicial and presidential – county level) as well as served on many campaign committees. She is a fellow of the NC Institute of Political Leadership and a former chair of the NC Nurses Association PAC. Cathy served as GOTV Chairperson for OCDP in the 2008 election. 2ND VICE CHAIR – LINDA CHEWNING
Linda Chewning is a long time resident of Orange Coun
ty and a North Carolina native. She has over 15 years experience in research project management, including community-based program development, evaluation, team building, and training. She spent most of 2008 as a grassroots organizer in North Orange for the Obama campaign. Prior to the primary election, Linda founded and grew Obama work groups in both Hillsborough and Mebane. During the general election, she served as Change Crew Chief for Northwest Orange. She remains active with the Orange County Campaign for Change and is Secretary/Treasurer of the OCDP Efland precinct. Linda can be reached at .
3RD VICE CHAIR – JASON BAKER
Jason Baker has been an active volunteer in Democratic politics since moving to Orange County in 2002. He served four terms on the UNC Young Democrats Executive Committee and was the first statewide Technology Director for the NC College Democrats. Jason is immediate past chair of Northside Precinct, and previously served the OCDP as a member of the Get Out The Vote Committee in 2006. In 2004, he worked for the state party as a paid Voter Registration and GOTV Coordinator. Jason is also a member of the Chapel Hill Planning Board and active in the Orange-Chatham Sierra Club Group. TREASURER – TOM BOYER
Tom Boyer has had a varied background with varied experience. With degrees in Chemistry and an MBA, he has built tires, worked as a criminalist, a chemist and as a controller. Currently he is a divisional financial controller for LabCorp. Not only does he have financial experience in private industry, he also has worked with service organizations. While living in Orange County he has served as PTA treasurer at two different schools and treasurer of the Chapel Hill Optimist Club. Tom can be reached at .
