As an Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication at High Point University with a M.A. and Ph.D. from UNC, I teach undergraduate and graduate classes in health communication, social media, strategic communication planning and implementation, message development and brand management. My research focuses on health communication online, particularly at the intersection of politics and health.
I began my journalism career in college as a reporter and music personality on the campus radio stations. From there, my broadcasting career transitioned into television, where I earned an Emmy nomination and a Green Eyeshade award (from the Society of Professional Journalists) and was recognized by GLAAD for fairness in coverage of LGBT issues in Atlanta.
Upon leaving journalism, I entered public relations, working for the state of Georgia, Kaiser Permanente, and the University of California system. In 2010, my husband and I moved to North Carolina to build our dream home, and we’re glad to be here.
