Online

  • Click the link and then click “Go to Voter Registration Online.”

  • Log in or create an account for the NCDMV’s portal.

  • Get out your drivers license or state-issued ID card.

  • Complete the form and submit it.

  • Prior to voting, verify your registration has been received by visiting the NC Board of Elections Voter Search or by calling the Orange County Board of Elections at 919-245-2350.

If you don’t have a drivers license or state-issued ID card…

Send your registration in the mail

  • Print out one of the forms below.

  • Complete and sign it.

  • Drop it off or mail it to the
    Orange County Board of Elections:
    P.O. Box 220, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

  • Prior to voting, verify your registration has been received by visiting the N.C. Board of Elections Voter Search or by calling the Orange County Board of Elections at 919-245-2350.

To register to vote in North Carolina, you must

  • be a United States citizen

  • be at least 18 years old by Election Day

  • have been a resident of your county for at least 30 days before the election

  • not be in jail or prison for a felony conviction

 

Note: An inactive voter is still a registered voter. A voter who is inactive status will be asked to confirm their address when they appear to vote. No special document is required.

 

Print out one of the voter registration forms above, complete and send to the Orange County Board of Elections at the address above.

How do I know if I’m registered to vote?

Use the NC Board of Elections Voter Search to verify your voter registration information (name address, party affiliation, etc.)

If you’ve recently registered, it could take a few weeks for your information to be added to the voter rolls. If it’s been more than a few weeks or if your information is listed incorrectly, contact the Orange County Board of Elections at vote@orangecountync.gov, or call 919-245-2350.

Can I register to vote in person?

Absolutely. Complete this form, and our team will be in touch to help you register to vote!

Or you can visit your local DMV, public library, high school, county board of elections, or a government social service office. Some organizations will also sponsor voter registration drives at local festivals, schools, and other events.
