URGENT: Please Help Protect Your Vote
The US Postal Service (USPS) has proposed new federal regulations that, if adopted, would essentially give the federal government control over who receives a mail-in or absentee ballot. The deadline for public comment is July 2, 2026.
The proposal requires states to supply mail-in and absentee ballot participation lists to USPS to verify voter eligibility. If a voter’s name is not on the list or the state fails to provide the list or comply with mandated technical changes involving the mailing envelope USPS can refuse to accept the ballots for delivery.
The postal service does not have the authority to require these lists nor does the president have the authority to order the USPS to require them. (By statute, the USPA answers to an independent bipartisan board of governors not to the president.) If adopted these changes are likely to become law just a few short months prior to the election and will be expensive and time consuming for already overworked election officials.
