Call to Action: Health Care Coverage in Jeopardy for Thousands of North Carolinians.

By Nan Nixon  |  October 1, 2025

Democrats in the US Congress are demanding that Republicans rollback the expiration of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) tax credits that President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act eliminates.  Congressional Democrats need our help.  Please contact our US Senators, Republicans Thom Tillis and Ted Budd , and urge them to support efforts to extend the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) premium tax credits as part of the negotiations to fund and reopen the Federal Government.  If these tax credits are allowed to expire at the end of December, hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians and millions of Americans will either no longer be able to afford health insurance or will face exorbitant cost increases to remain insured. KFF, a nonpartisan health research organization, estimates an average cost increase of 114%.   Rural residents, young people and low-income North Carolinians will be hurt the worst!
