Absentee Voting by Mail
Orange County offers absentee voting by mail to all registered Orange County voters who wish to vote by mail rather than at a one-stop early voting site or on Election Day.
Request an Absentee Ballot
Registered voters wanting to vote by mail in the March 3, 2026 Primary and Orange County Schools Board Election may request a ballot by completing the 2026 State Absentee Request Form and mailing it to Orange County Board of Elections, PO Box 220, Hillsborough, NC, 27278.
Requests may also be made through the NC State Board of Elections’ Online Absentee Ballot Request Portal.
The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot for the March 3, 2026 election is February 17, 2026.
Deadline for returning an Absentee Ballot
Absentee by mail ballots (returned by mail or in person) must be received in the Orange County Board of Elections office by 7:30 pm on Election Day in order to be eligible to be counted.
