Absentee Voting by Mail

Orange County offers absentee voting by mail to all registered Orange County voters who wish to vote by mail rather than at a one-stop early voting site or on Election Day.

Request an Absentee Ballot
Registered voters wanting to vote by mail may request a ballot by completing the Absentee Request Form and mailing it to Orange County Board of Elections, PO Box 220, Hillsborough, NC, 27278.

Requests may also be made through the NC State Board of Elections’ Online Absentee Ballot Request Portal.

Deadline for returning an Absentee Ballot
Absentee by mail ballots (returned by mail or in person) must be received in the Orange County Board of Elections office by 7:30 pm on Election Day in order to be eligible to be counted.

More information about absentee ballots can be found here.
