2025 Proves GOTV More Important Than Ever

Democrats In North Carolina swept municipal races across the state on Election Day. Graham and Burlington elected Democratic mayors close to home. Five of six mayors in Wake County are now Democrats. We have momentum for big changes in 2026.
Democrats have had a wide numerical advantage over Republicans for years. A recent article from The Assembly (see the link below) explains how Democratic registration losses don’t necessarily mean Republican gains.
The message for me was that “Get Out the Vote” will be more important than ever in 2026. Our efforts in the Orange County Democratic Party and County to County/Neighbors on Call are targeted at Democratic and unaffiliated voters that share our stands on the climate, choice, safety and immigration. Through canvassing and telephone banks we talk to voters about issues that matter and find out vital information from voters on the issues they care about.
Even though Democratic registrations are down, we have good opportunities to persuade unaffiliated voters to vote for Democratic candidates. Talking to voters is the best way to find the issues that matter to them and to persuade them to Vote Democratic.
